"Okay, okay, do the bird again."
"'Kay."
David took the cigarette from his lips with two fingers and exhaled. The smoke that rose from his lips floated up in a condensed sort of sphere, then all at once sprouted wings and a beak and flew around PJ's head thrice before evaporating once more. "That's so cool!" PJ enthused to his friend, sitting up at his seat on the bench in the Mystal garden, grinning from ear to ear. David layed back with the cigarette again at his lips. He shrugged, croaking out a little "Thanks", more than a little flattered.

Maybell let out a small sight of relief, though she would admittedly be a bit lost on her way back out of the garden due to the fact she had pretty much wandered aimlessly upon entering. Either way, she had lost Smith and that was the best thing that had happened that month. So for now, she let herself continue wandering which ended with her coming across a pair of boys sitting together and just about immediately started to apologize, as she hadn't particularly come across much of anyone else and seemed to jump to conclusions. She had a habit of doing that.

(yeah sorry about being on and not replying long enough. I fell asleep a little while after I logged on, sorry >.< )

PJ and David both looked at the girl when she entered the rose garden their bench was in and said her apologies. They shared a befuddled glance, though, of course, PJ was the first one to speak to her. "Uh, it's okay? Hi though!" He raised his hand and waved cheerfully, while David offered a nod in greeting. "Oh, oh, hey! Watch, this is cool." PJ turned to his friend again and said, "Do something girly for her." David nodded, drew from his cigarette, and another sphere formed when he exhaled. This time it formed into a group of butterflies, which fluttered to and around Maybell. They brushed and tickled her skin, feeling as though they were real, before dissipating and rising a few moments later.
"Awesome!" PJ exclaimed, clapping his hands enthusiastically.

((That's fine! Sleep is good I like sleep.))

(sleep is one of my favourite things!)

Maybell watched them start speaking again, returning the smile and wave PJ had shot her before trying to follow what they were saying to the best of her ability. Apparently they were going to show her something. Hopefully nothing bad. What he did do really wasn't what she had expected and she grinned the moment the smoke turned to butterflies, laughing when they fluttered against her

"That was awesome!" She said, signing as she did so. While smoking wasn't normally a thing she approved of, if more people did that she might consider changing her stance

PJ grinned while David smiled lightly, who, by just blowing at the end, extinguished the cigarette completely and then threw it into a nearby trashcan. "Aw..." PJ pouted, as he was excited to see a few more. David's eyebrows furrowed with a tinge of guilt. "I...should be going...," he mumbled, collecting his backpack, standing, and flinging it over his shoulder. PJ's expression switched again to a more neutral one. "Oh, that's right! You have that...thing to...program?"
"Yeah."
"Okay! Good luck!" With that his grin returned and he stood, flinging his arms around his friend in a big hug.
"Yeah, right, bye." David only nodded and gave PJ's back a pat, then walked up to the girl. She wasn't much shorter than him, but that's likely because he's short himself.
"Uh. Nice meeting you. Glad you liked the butterflies," he said, smiled softly, and began his trek towards the exit.
PJ, alone with the girl now, then turned to her and waved again. "Yeah, glad you liked the butterflies! My name's PJ. Were you using sign language just now?"

While Maybell was unable to catch most of what the two were saying and was a bit confused about what might be happening now, she figured it wasn't important since it was pretty clear the one with the cool smoke trick was leaving.

She gave a small nod to smoke-boy, returning his smile as he started to walk off. She immediately turned her attention to the enthusiastic one, not wanting to miss anymore of what he was going to say than she normally would, which was already a lot. She currently preferred this one, though she still felt kind of bad for interrupting their conversation or whatever it had been and, having no idea that he was apparently off to program something, felt it might be her fault smoke-boy had left

"I'm Maybell" She said, continuing with the ASL. "Yeah, I always do." Without much thought, she explained "I'm deaf, I was actually taught this first."

PJ walked over to her as she spoke, nodding. Actually standing in front of her, he was very, very tall, so to better meet her eyes, he sort of leaned a bit and slumped his shoulders. "Oh? Deaf? Oh, oh, oh! I-I should slow down then, s-so you can read my lips, or something!" He smiled. "Okay, okay." He paused and took a deep breath, slowing down a little with his speech. "Um, so, it's nice to meet you Maybell. Pretty name! I'm PJ--uh, I said that already, jeez..."

"It would make it easier" She nodded, glad to see the attempt to talk to her. Sometimes upon finding out that she was deaf, people figured it was easier not to try and just walked away, which she didn't particularly understand. Letting them know she couldn't hear them didn't mean she didn't want to talk, it just meant she wanted them to know they'd needed to put in a tiny bit of effort to slow down "You don't need to be nervous, PJ. You're already doing a lot better than some." That said, she actually responded to what he had said "It's nice to meet you too."

He smiled. "Oh, okay, great!" PJ was comforted by the fact he was doing okay, though still not sure if he should be any slower, or... He wrung his hands together and chuckled lightly embarrassedly. "Um, actually, sorry, I have to be going too, like my friend--oh, he's David by the way. Do you...do you want to walk with me? I have work..."

"David, alright." She nodded, now she didn't have to call him Smoke-Boy. Smoke-Boy was probably rude anyways. "If it's okay, I would really appreciate it." Maybell kind of regretted that aimless wandering thing "I'm new and I'm kind of lost."

"Oh! Well, welcome to Mystal!" PJ grinned, turned and began to walk down another path, motioning for her to follow him. "I've been here for a year. I don't know many ins and outs but I can help you around." He turned, walking backwards down the path, so she could read his lips. "I have to help my mom. Organizing and cleaning, argh. I love my mom though. I gotta do what she says. I like to too. It's fun going through the potions and stuff. She's really cool, my mom, I admit it. Cool stuff. Could make anything you want! She makes awesome dresses for women clients especially. Maybe she'd make you one! They're super flowy and look like just like the sky. Super duper pretty." At this point PJ finally realizing he was rambling a bit, and felt heat rising to his cheeks because of it. "Oh, ah, uh--do you want to help me?"

Maybell watched as he went on.. and then went on some more, followed by a bit more. When he was finished, she smiled apologetically "Could you repeat the first half of that?" She asked, having missed a lot of that. She considered his offer, trying to figure if she was doing anything other than avoiding Smith as usual. There was the fact she was supposed to buy a few supplies for her mother, but she could do that anytime between right then and two weeks later. "If your mom would be okay with it, I wouldn't mind helping"

Okay, to be perfectly honest she was really happy to be asked to help with something. Some people assumed she couldn't really help or do all too much because she was deaf, again this made no sense to her but it just happened. A lot.

PJ cleared his throat, paused at the exit to the garden they had reached, and summarized what he had said. "Organizing. Mom. Potions! Cool stuff. Pretty dresses. Make you one. Look like the sky. Pretty. And yay! Yeah, that's be great! Thank you! Please, come on!" And with all of that, he grabbed her hand and raced down the field, around the school, and out a short iron gate on the side of the grounds. He wondered if he was running too fast for her and slowed down quite a bit, skidding to a sort of halt as he and Maybell came to a stop in front of a quaint little place between an ice cream shoppe and book shoppe. How they got there so quickly was a mysterious, but there they were, and PJ dropped Maybell's hand. It was unmarked; the only decoration was white roses in the small window.
"Ta-da!"

"Okay, makes a lot more sense." She grinned, laughing when she was grabbed and they went running across the field. Luckily enough, she was athletic and didn't particularly have any trouble keeping up at all. Maybell looked at the cute store front for a minute before turning towards him again "How'd we get here so fast?" She paused a moment, then continued "Did you teleport us halfway across the field?" She said, emphasizing that she was joking since she had no idea whether or not her tone of voice made it known

(omg she's super cute i)

He pursed his lips and chuckled. "Mmmmaybe. Anyway, come on." PJ opened the door for her and a chime rang out, following inside after.
"One second!" A small woman's voice rang much like the bell, followed soon by the sound of boxes falling, yelling, and a curse or two.
"Mama, I-I told you not to move those boxes without my help--" PJ ran inside, made an agile jump over a counter to the immediate left of the door, and hopped into a door behind it. A moment later, out he came again with three large boxes in his arms, followed by a short and slender woman with striking red hair. So, there's mama.
"Peejy-weejy, I said I could get it my--oh! Oh, actual customer!" She perked up at the sight of Maybell, rushing over to the edge of the counter to grin at her. "Hi, hi, welcome!"
"No, Mama. She's my...friend..." He wasn't sure if he could say that yet. Ah well.
"Oh. Well, welcome anyway! I hope you like what you see, all of this is my work. Heehee." Luckily, she spoke slowly naturally. "I'm Sabrina. Please, call me Bri, if you'd like. Or Ms. Marcs, if you're more of a formal gal. Go, go, we'll get the boxes--please, look around for a moment!"
The shop seemed to be a bit bigger on the inside than out, as long shelves created rows across from the counter, full of strange boxes marked with prices and cloths with curious patterns; at the back was a long shelf with herbs and bottles of liquids lined up, as well.

(x3 thankss)

Maybel paused, signing thank you before turning and walking through the open door and looking around the store. She was completely oblivious of anything happening and jumped when quite suddenly, or at least it was very unexpected from her point of view, PJ went jumping over the counter and ran off. She stayed where she was, staring at the door in confusion. Soon enough though, PJ returned with who she could only assume was his mother. She waved upon being noticed. While bits of what was said was lost as usual, she could detect some sort of confusion from PJ upon saying she was a friend. While they admittedly didn't know each other all too well, she didn't particularly mind and lifted her hand to sign that it was fine, but remembered that was most likely useless and instead mouthed it, though afterward she wasn't too sure he had noticed. Oh well.

"Oh! Uhm, hey, Sabrina.." Hopefully her father wouldn't appear out of nowhere, as he had a habit of doing when she did something he didn't particularly care for, and scold her for calling her by something informal. "I'm Maybell Rivers."

As she spoke, she looked around the room which was, as they would say on that one British show, bigger on the inside. Or at least looked it. Maybe Sabrina had enchanted it. "I actually thought I could give you guys a hand, if you were okay with that." Though she did want to check out that back shelf before leaving.

"Very lovey to meet you, dear. Ah! Yes," Sabrina clasped her hands together. "I would adore some help!" Her son, after some grunts and setting down the boxes behind the counter, muttered to her that Maybell is deaf, and she should be careful to speak slow, and things like that. "Yes, yes, alright." She sort of waved him off, counting the boxes and thinking back to what exactly are in them. Meanwhile, PJ leaned over and offered Maybell his hands, to help her up and over the counter and into the door behind them.

"Great!" She said, her grin faltered a moment when PJ started to explain, worried Sabrina might just change her mind, but seeing that Sabrina didn't mind it returned. Admittedly, she might need reminding to slow down once in a while, but a lot of people needed that so it didn't particularly bother her. Quickly signing thank you again, she accepted PJ's help and made her way over the counter

"Ah, there we are." PJ smiled at her, then took the piece of paper his mother handed him.
"Just get these things for me, please, guys?" she asked with it.
"Uh-huh. Now, mademoiselle, if you'd come with me." He bowed and shuffled backward into the room, which was also so much bigger than it had appeared. It was circular, the walls shelves that went all the way to the high ceiling. The room was dominated by potion bottles; some glowed, others swirled with multiple colors, and other effects.
"Alright, so--" PJ considered the paper, a lined piece with a floral margin. "Ah, okay. I know all of these. Here, hold this." He gave the paper to Maybell to hold, and stepped forward to look for these things on the shelves. Of course, all of that he spoke to himself, so for her she was handed the paper without any explanation. It read, though:

  • Juice of snap dragon
  • Passion essence
  • Peppermint extract
  • Moonstone/nectar mixture
  • Lust essence
  • Agate of the sun
  • Liquefied butterfly wings (12 oz.)
  • Happily Ever After potion (the SMALL BOTTLE)

As she passed, Maybell shot Sabrina a small smile before stepping into the back room and looking around. Now she really was starting to suspect some sort of magic influence on the building. "This is a lot larger than I imagined." She said, not really questioning anything when she was handed the paper. She read over what it listed, before clearing her throat to gather PJ's attention "Would it be okay if I looked for some of these?"

"Huh?" PJ looked up from inspected bottle labels and over at her. "Yes, of course! Go ahead. There's a ladder over there"--he pointed to the opposite corner to a tall, tall ladder that could reach the ceiling, set onto a railing with wheels that allowed it to roll all the way around the semicircle that was the room--"if you need it." The potions seemed to go in alphabetical order (more or less) from left to right around the room.

She nodded, making her way towards the ladder while checking over the list once more. Looking up to see how far the ladder went up out of simple curiosity before starting the climb up to search for what the list had.. well, listed.

((Sorry for not replying for days. I've been very sad and super sickly. Cough, cough.))

When she made her way about halfway up, Maybell found herself in the 'H' section of the alphabetical shelves. A good chance to look for Happily Ever After, perhaps. Across the row was: Hair Growth, Hair Growth (Super Strength), Heat Essence, Happily Ever After, Hearing (24 Hours Formula), Hippopotamus Teeth... et cetera.
