The flow of time changes many things, be it relationships or even one's appearance. When Marley first came to Mystal, she had clear skin and long hair, but now her hair rested on her shoulders and her skin was marked by scars and a nigh permanent irritable expression, her nose now crooked from being broken so often. Time flowed on, as it was meant to and most of the changes were irreversible. One might get plastic surgery to remove the scars, which Marley had been shocked to find out was a real thing you could do, but the memories would remain. The damage would always be done, even if it no longer showed on your flesh. Unless, however, one was willing to stoop low enough to use Time Magic. Not many are willing to use this magic, worried about the consequences. Marley, however, never was one to worry about anything quite so fundamental as consequences and responsible thought.
In fact, it was possibly her aversion to responsible thought that not only led her to this, but also to the idea of dragging Ashley down with her. Too much interaction with the past was strictly forbidden, but that wasn't particularly concerned with. Instead, she more looked forward to seeing how she could change the present and how pissed off she could make Ashley. Two birds, one stone, right?
But for time magic to teleport groups, you need key holds. Responsible folks will use something that everyone present can hold onto. Others will charm jewelry and some time mages are powerful enough to teleport groups without a key hold. However, Marley wasn't a time mage, let alone a powerful one. But she did have a threatening demeanor, when she wanted to, so finding a time mage and forcing them to bend to her will wasn't particularly difficult. In fact, it was perhaps harder deciding which of her belongings she was willing to have enchanted.
In the end, she decided on the golden locket she wore and two bracelets, one for herself and the other for Ashley. I won't bore you with the details of creating a keyhold, but it should be known that for a non-time mage to take someone with them, it involves equal parts time magic and blood magic. The locket was magically sealed shut, to keep both the time energy and the blood inside. Neither will I bore you on the magic sealing the expensive looking bracelets to the locket, but I will let you know that the single ruby on the locket and the single diamond, no matter how good they look on the locket, once belonged to one of the bracelets and the magic that hides the empty spaces on the bracelets involved Marley's own blood.
However, Marley currently hid the necklace under her the neckline of her form fitting shirt and what was soon to be Ashley's bracelet within the pocket of her skirt. As she walked, her steps quick, she wore her best frown and began to gently bit her own lip. Her brow furrowed slightly and she emulated a mask of quilt, something she had used to trick people before. She stopped at the entrance of the commons and leaned against the door frame as she spoke
"Ashley?" When Ashley didn't reply straight away, she continued "Ash." She didn't give Ashley much time to reply before she spoke again, "Ashleeeey" She became a bit whiny, as was expected of her at this point. Marley didn't like when she wasn't responded to quickly enough and considered it the other ignoring her. Whining or yelling were always sure to follow.
